Communications Coordinator: Fortis Properties

Fortis Properties is currently recruiting for the position of Communications Coordinator at its corporate office in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The successful candidate will assist with the coordination and development of internal communications, community investment, public relations and marketing communications projects. This position will also provide support to the Hospitality division with financial data compilation and analysis; research and writing of materials; monitoring and researching of industry, brand and market trends; and participate in other projects as needed.

The ideal candidate will have strong writing, research and project management skills. He/she displays strong initiative and creativity, and is able to work autonomously and take the lead in developing project plans. Solid interpersonal and organizational skills are a must as this position requires interaction at all levels of the company and with a variety of stakeholders.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, preferably Business or Public Relations with 1-2 years experience in business communications or a related field. An equivalent amount of education and experience will be considered. Experience with desktop publishing software, specifically Adobe InDesign, would be an asset.

Volunteer Opportunity

Leading up to our Canada Day celebration we will have a historic display on the 84th regiment, held at the Place Near and Far Gallery, June 11th -22nd. On June 27th the gallery will be hosting "Dancing Bears" a 30 minute video presentation on the Heroes of East Hants.

We have numerous activities taking place over the weekend. It is our hope to have a university student participate on a volunteer basis to work with the Kennetcook Society for Educational and Environmental Development (KSEED) to promote this wonderful event. We require a student(s) to assist with the marketing and promotion of the event. Individuals who are interested in volunteering their time for this wonderful event please contact:

Young Adult Cancer Canada, formerly RealTime Cancer, delivers innovative and
essential programs for young adults in Newfoundland and Labrador and across the
country from our head office in St. John’s and we are looking for a Director of Fund
Development.

This position is responsible for the coordination of all fund development activities,
which includes event management, donor recruitment and retention, and donor and
volunteer relations.

Volunteer Opportunity: 2008 CPRS Conference

I am writing on behalf of the 2008 Canadian Public Relations Conference being held right here in Halifax from June 8th to the 10th. We are looking for a limited number of volunteers to work during the conference beginning Saturday, June 7th.This is a great opportunity to see how a huge event is organized, to meet delegates from across the country, and to sit in on some of the keynote speakers and breakout sessions (unfortunately we can't offer food or drink).We need volunteers to help greet delegates, work at the registration desk, act as information agents, collect tickets, along with other small but vital duties. You can volunteer for the entire conference, for one day, or just part of a day.
