Internship Opportunity

The Nature Conservancy of Canada has an opportunity for a publications intern position funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. I wonder if you could distribute this to your students and see if any of them are interested:

We have had some good success with hiring students from your program in the past, so I'm hoping that will happen again!

Thanks in advance,

Volunteer Opportunity

The "Coalition For Rural NB" is proud to announce a current membership consisting of citizens from 25 communities around New Brunswick.

The mission of the coalition will be to advocate for rural NB – with advocate meaning ‘the pursuit of influencing outcomes – including public policy and resource-allocation decisions within political, economic and social systems and institutions – that directly affect people’s lives.’

The coalition seeks to address the need for a shared vision for rural NB. And to promote the idea that this vision should be developed by and for those living and working in rural communities.

Our first real achievement as an organization has been to pull together the 25 communities undergoing the latest spate of cuts to government garages in the province. Some cuts were undertaken previously in 2004 under the Lord government.

The Petition drive is being conducted by "The Coalition For Rural NB" which is a new organization formed to unite and advocate for rural NB communities -- perhaps in the future we may look back on this date as somewhat of a landmark in NB history?

Can you pass this on to someone who may be interested in organizing in various areas you're familiar with? Can you point us to someone who could volunteer Website development services?

Thanks,
Coalition For Rural NB

Volunteer Opportunity - Tall Ships 2009

The Tall Ships 2009 volunteer committee is looking for 6 to 10 PR volunteers to help out at the Tall Ships Media Centre from Thursday July 16th to Monday July 20th.

http://www.tallshipsnovascotia.com/

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, will be to help the local and international media with whatever they require. One minute you might be passing on a cool story idea to CTV. The next, you might be giving out media passes. Regardless, it’s going to fun and should give you some insight into how an event like this is organized and executed.

Volunteering for this event is a great resume builder and networking opportunity.

PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers are require to fill out a criminal record check (this will be provided to you by Tall Ships 09)

Anyone interested can email Adam Meery at adam@nshba.ns.ca

Volunteer Opportunity

Our non-profit organization promoting openness and accountbility in government is looking for younger members who may be in a position to offer us new ideas on how to fulfill our mandate and to help us do it. We are particularly interested in having a volunteer who is studying public relations and may feel that promoting our work and getting some experience at the same time may be good for us and the volunteer.

The volunteer work would not be onerous. In fact I think it would be an enjoyable experience.

If you find any student interested would you please lead them to our website (see below). I'd be pleased to talk to anyone interested.
