Position: Outreach Officer
Organization: The Land Conservancy of BC http://www.conservancy.bc.ca
Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Position Overview:

Working with BC's leading conservation organization and
land trust, the Outreach Officer will be in the forefront of
saving natural areas, historic landmarks, agricultural lands
and places of community importance. The position is ideally
suited to someone who is personable, outgoing, well-organized,
and wants to establish a career in the environment,
communications, fundraising, and non-profit sector.

Working under the supervision and direction of TLC's
Director of Development, the Outreach Officer will plan and
execute programs to better inform the public and TLC Members
of conservation issues related to the organization and BC in
general.

Duties and responsibilities:

* Plan, organize and manage outreach programming and events.
* Produce and distribute Membership and donor recognition
correspondence.
* Liaise with Members and Donors making administrative
inquiries by telephone, email and mail.
* Make outgoing administrative calls related to meetings,
invitations, events, etc.
* Recommend and develop ways to improve TLC Donor
Relation's program.
* Assist in the maintenance of membership and donation
records, and in the maintenance of TLC's donor database.
* Write content for informational materials such as
newsletters, bulletins, pamphlets, posters, and
organization's website.
* Assist in the promotion TLC programs, campaigns and
events to the general public and the media. Track media
monitoring and benchmark media results.
* Assist in the production of advertisements for TLC
programs, campaigns and events.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

* Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in
writing with TLC Members and the public.
* Ability to plan and initiate events and other outreach opportunities.
* Proficiency with personal computers, and basic office software.
* Excellent time management skills and ability to
prioritize multiple tasks.
* Careful attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and as a team player, and
to follow supervisory direction.
* Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience
demonstrating competence in each of the following areas.
* Previous experience with non-profits, or in a customer
service environment, an asset.
* High school diploma, or equivalent workplace experience.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
* Experience working with database programs an asset.
